Welcome to Léo Girardi's homepage

Look at my papers in ADS (including astro-ph preprints).

Recent highlights:

  • NEW: Ever wondered what's the star formation history of the Milky Way disc per unit surface? Or how its scale height increases with age? Some answers derived from Gaia data are in Alessandro Mazzi's paper.
  • NEW: Major updates in AESOPUS 2.0 low-temperature opacities, now with solid grains. Opacities for more extreme conditions are on the way.
  • Our simulation of the LSST stellar content is freely available for queries at NOIRLab's Astro Data Lab.
  • The PARSEC V2.0 stellar tracks and isochrones of low- and intermediate-mass stars with rotation were greatly expanded. As usual, isochrones are available on the CMD web interface.
  • HAYDN, the anxiously waited ESA's M-class mission dedicated to asteroseismology of dense stellar fields, has passed to Phase 0. Congratulations to the entire team!
  • Stunning near-infrared images of the SMC from the VMC survey.
  • I am pleased to provide you complimentary one-time access to my Annual Reviews article about Red Clump Stars as a PDF file, for your own personal use. Any further/multiple distribution, publication, or commercial usage of this copyrighted material requires submission of a permission request addressed to the Copyright Clearance Center.
  • After releasing UV-to-IR photometry of 117 million stars in Andromeda, PHAT helps NASA to assemble the largest-ever HST image. Especially amusing are the zoomable image and the youtube video.

    Services mantained:

  • The web interface to TRILEGAL, a simulator of photometry for stellar fields in the Galaxy (and much more): http://stev.oapd.inaf.it/trilegal
  • CMD, a web interface for computing isochrones, luminosity functions, integrated SSP colours, etc: http://stev.oapd.inaf.it/cmd
  • PARAM, a web interface for the Bayesian estimation of stellar parameters: http://stev.oapd.inaf.it/param
  • AESOPUS, a web interface providing low-temperature Rosseland mean opacities on demand: http://stev.oapd.inaf.it/cgi-bin/aesopus
  • The Padova database of stellar evolutionary tracks and isochrones: http://pleiadi.oapd.inaf.it
